I have a leak from the pipe that is on the wall for my bathroom sink. the fittings are to small. I would like to know how much it would cost to replace and unplug the drain. Thank you,
Steven M
I am having trouble with my sewer line from the basement sink, out. I just had $10,000.00 worth of water proofing done and found out they didn't check that line. After doing laundry on a dry day, I heard the water going into the new sub-pump recepticle and Loctite theorizes that this means the clay pipe is defective and no longer going into the sewer. I need a plumber to help me diagnose and fix the problem as cost effectively as possible!

Plumbing leaks are a common household plumbing problem. They can range from tiny leaks that may not damage your home in any way, to major extensive leaks that can actually flood your home. Whatever the type of leak, never leave the problem unattended, hoping it will go away. First, determine whether the leak is on the pipe or at the joint. In case of a leak at the joint, simply tightening the joint should help fix the leak. In case of a pipe leak, you may have to replace the section of pipe altogether. Leaky pipes often result from corrosion, and a corroded pipe can begin to leak in other areas when one leak has been patched.
Other quick ways to fix a leaky pipe include using a readymade pipe patch that's available in your neighborhood hardware store. You can also use water proof tape to wrap around the leaky spot, or apply epoxy paste on the hole. These however, are all stop gap solutions that offer only temporary measures to fix a pipe leak. To stop a leak till the plumber arrives, cut about 4" of split rubber hose, and slip around the pipe. Use a wrench to tighten until you can stop the leak.
All these however are only temporary solutions. You can expect the leak to begin again either at the same spot or at another section of the pipe. To detect a water leak in your house, look for damp patches on the walls and ceilings. It's not necessary that the damp patch is seen at the exact spot where the leak occurs. Water can travel through a leaking pipe for some distance before it shows up on your ceiling or wall. To fix a leaking pipe permanently, trust a professional pipe leak detection and repair service.
